Flu Season and Antibiotics: Health Education Materials

During flu season, some patients believe that they need antibiotics to get better. The California Medical Association Foundation’s Alliance Working for Antibiotic Resistance Education (AWARE) project has developed multiple materials to aid physicians in increasing patient knowledge and understanding of appropriate antibiotic usage and reducing antibiotic resistance.

Resources from the AWARE project, including a toolkit, brochures, and posters, can be found here: http://aware.md. Additional materials about preventing the flu and how to stay healthy can be found on the San Francisco Health Plan website here: www.sfhp.org/providers  in the Health Education for Patients section. All materials are available in English, Spanish, and Chinese.  For questions or to request copies, please contact Amy Dietz, MPH at adietz@sfhp.org or (415) 615-4230.
