Human Resources Assistant
San Francisco Health Plan (SFHP) is a licensed community health plan providing affordable health coverage to low and moderate-income families residing in San Francisco.
Our Human Resources Team works closely with management to attract, hire, develop and reward talented staff members. We take a hands-on and strategic role in providing human resources expertise in recruiting, benefits administration, employee relations, coaching/development, conflict management, organizational development, training and more.
This position will be instrumental in assisting the HR Director to initiate and drive HR programs/initiatives within the organization, placing considerable focus on retention and our corporate culture. This position will also support the various on-line or paperless programs we have in place, such as HR/B (our on-line recruiting, data management, and benefits enrollment updating software system). We will also look to expand our role in the organization by planning and releasing a well designed learning/training program that supports and develops the company's talent.
Responsibilities:
- Working with HR Director and managers to recruit, interview, and select employees to fill vacant positions (using the new Human Resources Benefits Recruiting and Applicant Tracking software).
- Administration of the benefits program including:
- Working with HR/B Benefits tracking software;
- Enrollments and disenrollments;
- Monthly review of insurance billing;
- Troubleshooting benefits problems for employees; and
- Assisting with Open Enrollment.
- Maintaining both paper and electronic (HR/B) employee records of all personnel transactions, such as hires, promotions, transfers, and terminations.
- Serving as a resource for any employee relations issues.
- Assisting with planning, developing and delivering training programs, including working with outside vendors for training needs.
- Assisting the HR Director with the annual performance evaluation process.
- Conducting new employee orientation to foster the positive culture of SFHP.
- Assisting with Workers Compensation Program.
- Brings serious issues to the attention of the HR Director and recommends solutions.
- Performs other duties as needed.
Qualifications:
- Must have solid knowledge of federal, state and local employment laws.
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business or other related field.
- Minimum of 2 years experience in human resources, including strong generalist background.
- Prefer PHR certification.
- Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and at least one HRIS system.
