Programmer/Analyst
San Francisco Health Plan (SFHP) has an opening for two Programmer/Analysts in our I.T. Department. These positions will work with IS staff on the maintenance and adjustments of jobs and processes run by IS Operations, business process automation, and planning for the National Provider Identifier implementation project.
Under general supervision, candidate will be responsible for operational data processing systems, making and testing corrections, revising or enhancing programs and procedures. This position will participate as a team member in the analysis, definition, programming, testing, and implementation of processing systems, and do related work as required.
Minimum Qualifications
- B.S. or B.A. with a major in computer science, information processing or closely related field
- Two years of full-time or equivalent experience in applications programming and/or systems analysis and one year of which must have been in health care
Responsibilities
- Maintains operational data processing systems by monitoring production runs to assure success, locating causes of unsuccessful runs using exception handling and dump analysis
- Analyzes, charts data and process flows, and writes programs to effect revisions or enhancements to existing programs or sub-systems
- Given system and program specifications, designs and writes new programs of sub-systems
- Prepares test data, develop test plans, tests programs or enhancements, evaluates results and makes program corrections when necessary
- Secures approval for all new programs or changes
- Provides information for design interfaces between sub-systems where existing programs have been revised or new programs developed
- Designs and formats requested reports for utility by users
- Prepares new and updates current process documentation; prepares new and updates current I/O, process, and user procedures
Knowledge and Abilities
- Understanding of methods and techniques of system design and programming
- Experience with Microsoft .Net Programming (VB.Net, ASP.Net)
- Intermediate to advance T-SQL querying skills
- Knowledge of relational databases (MS-SQL)
- Intermediate to advance skills in report writing using tools like SQL Reporting Services or Crystal Reports
- Knowledge of testing methodology and exception management
- Communicate effectively with non-technical users in both written and oral form
