Chlamydia is a very common infection caused by a bacteria. Close to 3 million people in the USA get it each year, most often 14-24 year-olds. Chlamydia can be easily cleared up with antibiotics. But if it isn’t treated, it can lead to major health problems, like pelvic inflammatory disease and infertility.

How do you get chlamydia?

Chlamydia is spread through infected fluids during vaginal, anal, and oral sex. Chlamydia can also be spread to a baby during birth.

Getting Tested

Most of the time, people don’t know they have chlamydia until they take a test. The sooner you know you have it, the faster you can cure it. Anyone who has sex can get chlamydia. Talk to your doctor to see if getting tested is right for you.

You can get tested for chlamydia and other sexually transmitted infections at your doctor’s office, or another clinic like Planned Parenthood.
