June 21, 2023:
SAN FRANCISCO, June 21, 2023 – Yolanda R. Richardson, Chief Executive Officer of San Francisco Health Plan (SFHP), has been appointed to the statewide Health Care Affordability Advisory Committee. The advisory committee will provide input on a variety of topics to the state’s Health Care Affordability Board and Office of Health Care Affordability, including statewide health care spending targets for areas such as behavioral health, goals for adopting alternative payment models, and standards to help stabilize California’s health care workforce. Richardson’s two-year term on the committee begins today.

June 29, 2022:
SAN FRANCISCO, June 29, 2022 – We, the leadership of the San Francisco Health Plan (SFHP), are dismayed by the 6-3 ruling of the U.S. Supreme Court in Dobbs v Jackson Women’s Health which has overturned the longstanding and significant precedent of Roe v. Wade.

SFHP respects the reproductive rights of ALL its members and will continue to stand with persons choosing to terminate their pregnancy regardless of the reason. SFHP covers abortion services for all of its Medi-Cal enrollees and will continue to authorize this important service to ensure that all our members are free from barriers to safe and effective reproductive health care.

SAN FRANCISCO, February 15, 2022 – San Francisco Health Plan (SFHP) has been providing affordable health care options to the San Francisco community for 25 years. SFHP’s mission is to improve the health outcomes of the diverse San Francisco communities through successful partnerships. SFHP currently serves over 155,000 Medi-Cal members, over 11,000 Healthy Workers HMO members, and serves as the third-party administrator for the nationally recognized Healthy San Francisco program. SFHP’s provider network includes over 7,000 health care providers and 7 hospitals in both San Francisco and San Mateo counties, providing access to world class health care for low and moderate-income San Francisco residents for 25 years.

February 8, 2022:
The Governing Board of the San Francisco Health Plan (SFHP) has announced that Yolanda Richardson, currently the Secretary of the California Government Operations Agency, will succeed John F. Grgurina, Jr., as Chief Executive Officer, effective April 4, 2022.

May 18, 2021:
The San Francisco Health Network published a commentary in the NEJM CATALYST on April 6, 2021 titled “Concentrating Vaccines in Neighborhoods with High Covid-19 Burden.” SFHP partnered with the SFHN network by providing a multi-lingual call center to help the community navigate the web-based scheduling systems and by launching successful interventions to vaccinate diverse communities via social media, text messaging, robocalling, letters, and direct operator calling to ensure that all members of our community have free and fair access to the COVID-19 vaccinations in San Francisco County.

January 4, 2021:
San Francisco Health Plan (SFHP) announces the appointment of Fiona Donald, M.D., as Chief Medical Officer effective January 4, 2021, succeeding Jim Glauber, M.D., MPH. Dr. Glauber will continue with SFHP in a new strategic role as our first Health Plan Physician Advisor focusing on disparities in healthcare and quality outcomes for our Black and transgender/gender non-binary members.

November 17, 2020:
San Francisco Health Plan (SFHP) has been selected to participate in two Member and Community-focused programs in order to improve the health outcomes of our Medi-Cal members. These programs will allow SFHP health care professionals to better serve our diverse membership and the unique health care needs of our San Francisco community.

October 22, 2019:
San Francisco Health Plan (SFHP), a community health plan serving over 150,000 San Francisco residents, announced today that the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) has awarded the organization a 4-Star Commendable Accreditation for its Medicaid (Medi-Cal) HMO line of business.

October 16, 2018:

October 9, 2018:
