All parents want their children to be healthy and happy. This means playing and being active, eating healthy foods, and doing well at home and in school. To do this, children need enough sleep.

Sleep experts suggest your child get this amount of sleep:
  • Babies 4 to 12 months: 12 to 16 hours (night time and naps)
  • Children 1 to 2 years of age: 11 to 14 hours (night time and naps)
  • Children 3 to 5 years of age: 10 to 13 hours (night time and naps)
  • Children 6 to 12 years of age: 9 to 12 hours
  • Teens 13 to 18 years of age: 8 to 10 hours

Talk to your child’s doctor if your child is snoring, having trouble getting to sleep, staying asleep, or waking up, or is sleepy during the day.
