Anxiety and depression are common feelings–more than 1 in every 5 adults in the U.S. live with these feelings each day. Minority groups, such as Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPI), may experience these feelings even more. This may be due to stress, fear of the future or what others think, not being able to get health care easily, and more.

Remember you are not alone. If you are dealing with depression, SFHP can help you get the care you need. Mental health care is private, and you do not need a referral from a doctor.

What Is Depression?

Depression is more than a bad day. It can last for weeks and make daily life harder. Some signs are:

  • Feeling sad, worried, or empty
  • Sleeping too much or too little
  • Changes in appetite or energy
  • Trouble focusing or making decisions

If these feelings last 2 weeks or more, it may be time to talk with a health care provider.

Why Depression Screening Matters

A depression screening is a short set of questions your doctor asks to see how you are feeling. It helps find concerns early, before they affect your health, work, or family life. Screening costs $0, is private, and does not label you.

After Screening

If your screening shows you may be depressed, follow-up care can help you feel better. You may be offered counseling, lifestyle tips, or other support you or your family needs.
