Your child may be exposed to lead if they swallow or breathe in lead or lead dust.
Most children with any lead in their blood have no clear symptoms right away. Yet even low levels of lead in blood can impact a child’s ability to learn, focus, and do well in school. There is no safe blood lead level in children. If your child may have been exposed to lead, talk to your child’s provider. Ask about getting a blood lead test for your child.
Get $50 for Your Child’s First Developmental Screening
If your child is under 36 months (3 years old), you can get a $50 gift card in the mail after you bring your child to their first developmental check-up. Blood lead screening is a routine part of a child’s developmental check-up. Children with Medi-Cal must get tested for lead at the age of 12 months (1 year old) and 24 months (2 years old).
