Help ensure your children are thriving
Screening for childhood developmental milestones is important. These tests ensure that your child’s development is on track by checking how they talk, move, learn, and play at a certain age. The American Academy of Pediatrics suggests that screenings should be done at 9 months, 18 months, and 30 months of age. Your primary care provider (PCP) can do a specific screening for autism spectrum disorder (ASD) at 18 months and 24 months of age.
What to Look for by Age 2
By the age of 2, your child should be able to:
- Babble, point, or do other gestures like nodding “yes” starting around 12 months of age.
- Saying single words by 16 months of age.
- Saying at least 2 words together like “more milk” by 24 months of age.
- Walk or kick a ball by 18 months of age.
