When you or your child feel sick, it can be hard to know where to go for help. Choosing the right place for care can save you time, money, and stress. Here’s a quick guide:
Teladoc Health (24/7 Phone or Video Visit)
- Best for mild problems when you want care from home and at any time of day.
- Good for allergies, cold and flu, rashes, pink eye, headache, or stomach bugs.

Primary Care Provider (PCP)
- Best for chronic (long-term) health needs, routine check-ups, and follow-up care.
- Good for UTI, managing asthma, diabetes, blood pressure, or getting vaccines.
- Call your primary care provider* (PCP) office to make an appointment. Your PCP’s number is on your SFHP ID card.
Urgent Care Center
- Best for problems that need care fast but are not life-threatening.
- Good for back or neck pain, bad cuts, sprains, stomach pain, or small burns.
Emergency Room (ER)
- For life-threatening emergencies only.
- Go to the ER for chest pain, trouble breathing, heavy bleeding, serious injuries, or if your life is in danger.
Remember:
- Call 911 if you have a true emergency.
- For other concerns, start with Teladoc or your PCP first.
