SFHP members can ask for an interpreter at every visit

When it comes to your health, clear communication with your medical provider is important. If you need care in another language, SFHP members can get interpreter services at no cost. An interpreter will speak your language and make sure you get the care you deserve.

Here are important tips to help you get the best care:

  • Speak up: If you or a family member would like to speak to a provider in a certain language, ask for interpreter services. It’s your right to be able to get care in the language of your choice.
  • Plan ahead: Ask for interpreter services before your appointment. You can call your provider’s office or SFHP Customer Service to request an interpreter for your appointment. Planning can help make it an easy process.
  • Choose your language: Be clear about the language you want for interpretation. Your comfort matters.
  • Know your rights: Call the phone number on the back of your SFHP ID Card to learn more. It is your right to have interpreter services at no cost. Stand firm in your rights to get these important resources.
  • Be heard: Share your feedback. Your thoughts can make positive changes and improve interpreter services for everyone.

By asking for interpreter services, you’re taking charge of your health. Being heard and understanding your provider is very important to your health and well-being. You are worth it.
