Cavities and tooth aches can hurt your child more than you think.
They can affect the way your child behaves in school. More issues with their teeth lead to more dental visits. This takes away time from school and their development. Teeth are also important for everyone’s self-esteem. Their teeth can make them feel bad about themselves.
It is never too early to start thinking of your child’s dental health.
Take your child to the dentist by their first birthday. The dentist will make sure their gums and any teeth are developing fine. Healthy baby teeth are important for preventing issues with adult teeth.
Give your child a head start on their oral health.
Get them connected to a dentist to make sure their teeth are healthy. Prevent pain and future complications. Start your child’s dental habits early. Dental coverage is a benefit offered by Medi-Cal.
Did you know childhood tooth decay is one of the most common chronic childhood diseases?
You can help prevent tooth decay by following the tips below!
Tips for Oral health
- Schedule dental check-ups: Take your child to the dentist at least every 6 months.
- Take care of your baby’s gums: Gently wipe a damp washcloth over the gums. This helps clean away any bacteria.
- First tooth? Start brushing: Use an infant toothbrush and infant toothpaste. Brush with water and a tiny bit of fluoride toothpaste (about the size of a grain of rice).
- Brush brush brush: Brush twice a day for two minutes.
- Get between those teeth: Start flossing once per day.
