San Francisco Health Plan strives to provide employees with terrific benefits designed to keep you healthy and maintain a balance between your work and personal life.

SFHP offers competitive medical, dental, and vision plans, but these are just a few of the perks you’ll enjoy as a full-time employee!

  • Medical Plans: You’ll have a choice of three plans, including Kaiser Permanente, and an alternate PPO or HMO.  Employee coverage in the Kaiser Permanente and the HMO plans are currently available at no cost to you, and dependent coverage is subsidized by SFHP.
  • Dental: You’ll have a choice between two dental plans.
  • Vision:  Employee coverage is currently available at no cost to you, and dependent coverage is subsidized by SFHP.
  • Paid Time Off (PTO): New full-time employees can accrue 23 days of PTO a year.
  • Holidays: SFHP observes twelve paid holidays during the year, including a day off for your birthday.
  • CalPERS Pension Plan: Unlike many employers, we have a pension plan! Employees are currently fully vested in the pension after five years of service. A percentage of your gross income is contributed to the CalPERS pension plan in lieu of Social Security.
  • 401(a): SFHP currently makes a contribution equal to 5% of your gross salary into this retirement plan. You’ll be fully vested after three years of service.
  • 457 Plan:  In 2019, you can choose to save up to $19,000 a year towards retirement with this pre-tax plan. The Age 50+ catch-up contribution will continue to be $6,000.
  • Tuition Reimbursement: Employees can get up to $2,000 for job-related courses or degree programs each fiscal year.
  • Professional License / Membership Dues: Job-related license renewals and/or membership dues will be paid by SFHP.
  • Crucial Conversations: Employees receive an award-winning training that teaches vital communication tools to use when stakes are high, as well as in everyday situations.
  • LinkedIn Learning / Lynda.com: Employees have access to online learning in business, software, technology and creative skills to achieve professional and personal goals.
  • Toastmasters: The SFHP Toastmasters Club is a program, hosted onsite, that helps build confidence in public speaking and leadership skills.
  • Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA): You can set aside a portion of your salary to pay for your health care and dependent care expenses on a pre-tax basis.
  • Transit and Parking (Navia): Set aside a portion of your salary to pay for public transportation and parking.

  • Discounted Gym Membership: SFHP has partnered with a local gym to offer discounted memberships to employees.
