How a Well-Child Visit Can Help Your Child Thrive
It’s important to take your child to routine well-child visits with their primary care provider (PCP)*, even if your child is not sick. Well-child visits can find and prevent health problems early. Plus, you can earn gift cards for up to $50 for taking your child to these visits.
- Well-child visits for babies and young children will check your child’s growth, development, and answer any questions you have. Your child will also get any vaccines (shots) or screenings they need. Visit Medi-Cal for Kids to learn more.
- Well-child visits for teens and young adults may also include screenings for depression and anxiety, sexual health care and testing, and talking about important health topics. Visit Medi-Cal for Teens to learn more.
Call your PCP to make an appointment. To find your PCP’s number, check your SFHP Member ID Card. To find a new provider, visit the Provider Search Tool.
*Your primary care provider (PCP) is your personal doctor if you need a check-up, want advice about a health problem, or get sick or hurt.
