Get Care for Healthy Vision in San Francisco
Getting the right care can help you keep your eyes healthy and prevent vision loss. As an SFHP member, you get vision services through VSP Vision Care (VSP). VSP can help you find optometrists in San Francisco, get eye tests, and more.
What Vision Care is Covered for SFHP Members?
Our partners at VSP can help you get vision care with an optometrist. An optometrist is a provider who can help you with glasses, contacts, and basic eye health.
As an SFHP member, your benefits with VSP include:
- 1 eye test from an optometrist every 24 months (2 years)
- Eyeglasses (frames and lenses are covered) once every 24 months (2 years) * Replacement eyeglasses within 24 months (2 years)
- Medically needed contact lenses
- Low vision devices, if you have a vision problem that makes it hard to do everyday activities
Extra Vision Benefits for SFHP Members
If you have diabetes, it is very important to get your eyes checked. Routine eye exams can help prevent vision loss from diabetes. SFHP members with diabetes can get:
- 1 routine dilated eye test from a VSP optometrist every 12 months (1 year)
Do you need to get eye tests very often? Your primary care provider (PCP)* can refer you to an ophthalmologist (eye doctor).
You can get as many medically needed eye tests as you need. You can also get treatment as often as you need for eye tests that are not normal.
