It is important to see if your child may need extra support during their first 36 months (3 years) so they can be as healthy as possible. The best way to do this is to track your child’s developmental milestones.
Developmental milestones are actions that kids can often do at a certain age, such as taking their first step, smiling for the first time, and waving bye. If kids do not reach these milestones, or reach them much later than other kids, it can be a sign that they may need extra support.
Early Start is a program in California that helps infants and toddlers (0–36 months) with developmental concerns. Support for Families and the SF Kids Collaborative have made a map to show you how to get Early Start services for your child.
