Anyone can get the flu, and it can be serious.
All people should get a flu shot each year.

The flu can be spread through coughing, sneezing, talking, or touch. It may cause you to have fever, cough, body aches, or pneumonia. A flu shot protects against the flu virus and is ready at no cost to SFHP members. Getting a flu shot can lower sickness, missed work and school, and prevent doctors’ visits and hospital stays. Protect yourself and your loved ones from getting the flu! Get the flu shot each fall, wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, and avoid close touch with people who are sick.

Medi-Cal members 19 years of age and older can get the flu shot at their doctor’s office or at the pharmacy. Children 18 years or younger can get the flu shot at their doctor’s office.
